Gather at the Chapel
Host Your Retreat at the Chapel on the Green - A Space for Teachers, Artists & Facilitators to Create Deep, Held Experiences in Nature
For the past seven years, River Flow Retreats has welcomed hundreds of guests to our beautiful retreat venue, Chapel on the Green — a peaceful haven in the heart of Mid Wales. Having hosted many successful yoga, creative, and wellness retreats ourselves, we’re now delighted to open the doors of the Chapel to other teachers, artists, and facilitators who wish to share in its magic.
Built in 1866, the Chapel combines historic gothic character with a warm, contemporary feel. It features five bedroomswith flexible sleeping arrangements for up to 11 guests, making it perfect for small groups. The building’s soaring architecture, abundant natural light, and tranquil surroundings make it a truly inspiring place to gather — whether for yoga and meditation, art and writing, or creative exploration.
A space where nature, creativity, and community meet, Chapel on the Green offers an unforgettable setting for those seeking depth, beauty, and connection in their retreat experience.

Accommodation
The Chapel sleeps up to 11 guests across five light-filled bedrooms, each with its own colour palette and personality. From deep forest greens to sun-warmed terracottas, every room tells its own quiet story — a reflection of the landscape that surrounds it.
Rooms can be arranged as twins or doubles, offering flexibility for groups of all kinds. Soft textures, natural light, and views of the rolling hills create a sense of peace and privacy between moments of gathering.
Every corner has been designed with care, balancing the Chapel’s gothic beauty with the warmth and ease of a lived-in home.

This was my first time hosting a retreat, and I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive place to do it. Gray and Matthew were incredibly kind and generous — offering advice on marketing, logistics and pacing the weekend, while also giving us space to lead in our own way. The food was a huge highlight — fun, abundant and creative — and the accommodation was beautiful, comfortable and full of character. My group felt completely at home.

Food
At River Flow Retreats, food is as much ritual as nourishment. Our in-house chef creates seasonal, plant-forward menus shaped by the rhythms of the land — dishes designed to comfort, restore, and celebrate what’s growing nearby.
Meals are shared around the long table in the Chapel’s heart, where conversation lingers and friendships form. Self-catering or visiting chefs are also warmly welcomed

This didn’t feel like a typical retreat experience — in the best way. The food was fun, abundant and memorable, the space felt welcoming and alive, and everything was taken care of so thoughtfully. I’d bring a group back in a heartbeat.

Yoga
Yoga sessions are held in the village hall, just a two-minute walk from the Chapel. The hall is bright and spacious, with wooden floors and infrared heaters — ideal for a warm, relaxed practice.
Many of our visiting hosts are yoga teachers who bring their own programme to share. Gray, co-founder of River Flow Retreats, is also available to teach or co-lead sessions if you’d like to include him in your weekend.
When the weather allows, practice often moves outdoors — into the local landscape, where birdsong drifts through the air and the river’s gentle trickle becomes part of the rhythm.

The setting is extraordinary. The Chapel sits in the village of Glasbury, within the Black Mountains range, with endless walking, wild swimming in the River Wye, and a deep sense of space and calm. Being so close to Hay-on-Wye was a real bonus for our group — it felt like the perfect balance of retreat and gentle adventure. As a queer teacher, it was also important to be in a place where my LGBTQ+ students felt genuinely welcome and at ease, and that openness was felt throughout the space

Local Activities
Nestled between the Brecon Beacons and Hay-on-Wye, the Chapel sits within a landscape rich in inspiration. Guests can wander along woodland trails, dip into wild rivers, or browse Hay’s bookshops and cafés.
For something deeper, we can connect you with local practitioners — from massage therapists to storytellers — whose work complements the retreat’s sense of grounding and renewal.

We welcome experienced and new teachers, facilitators, artists and practitioners offering retreats in yoga, movement, creativity, somatic work, writing, ceremony, intentional community and nature connection.
