Nestled in Words

 A Reading Retreat in Wales

14th - 16th Nov 2025

6th -8th March 2026

(New Dates Added Author TBA)

This weekend, guided by Simon Savidge, invites you into the quiet, contemplative world of books - where story, memory, and imagination come alive. Through shared conversation, peaceful reading time, and gentle excursions, we’ll explore how literature can be both a source of refuge and a spark for connection.

We’ll begin by sharing our favourite books, opening the retreat with stories that have shaped us. Across the weekend, you’ll have space to immerse yourself in your own reading, take part in an intimate author talk with Anthony Shapland, and join a guided walk through Hay-on-Wye - the world-renowned “town of books” - led by legendary bookseller Anne Addyman.

Highlights include a fireside reading circle, a book-themed autumn feast, and a reflective walk in the Black Mountains where we’ll practise “reading the landscape”, noticing details in nature as though they were lines of text.

Each morning begins with the option of gentle yoga and a hearty Hobbit’s Breakfast, grounding body and spirit for the day ahead. Set within the cosy Chapel on the Green, with nourishing vegetarian and vegan meals, this retreat is designed to restore your energy, kindle inspiration, and celebrate the joy of reading together in winter.
